The kids loved the spacious Harbor Lounge, with lots of games and room to play amongst the greenery \ud83c\udf3f The boys played hide and seek and tried all the games available. It felt so welcoming to see other families enjoying the space, too - and as parents, we could relax knowing the kids could play, laugh and be themselves without worrying about being too loud \u2764\n\nThe room was spacious with big comfy beds and had a lot of natural light flooding in during the afternoon when the sun started to set. The perfect space to unwind! \n\nAnd the highlight for our 10 year old - the Wellness area! \ud83e\udee7 \nHe wanted to try it all - the warmed up bath, the saunas, the foot bath, the experience shower and the relax area \u2728\nWe think the 10 year age limit is pretty unique - most times hotels with wellness\/spa areas has ha much higher age limit. This is a real hotel perk for families with kids!\n\nAnd then something Scandic is known for - the breakfast! Kids choice? Pancake buffet! \ud83e\udd5e No problem getting them up for breakfast! \n\nAnd when we were ready to head out, there was plenty to explore nearby. It\u2019s one of those simple pleasures that never really left me - and visiting beautiful libraries still feels a little magical.\n\nSo naturally, we had to explore Kungliga biblioteket - the National Library of Sweden, tucked away in the leafy surroundings of Humleg\u00e5rden in central Stockholm \ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddea\n\nIts history dates back to 1661, when it began collecting and preserving everything published in Sweden. \u2622\ufe0f\ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddea\n\nDuring the weekend of 2-4th of October there was an event called Open House Stockholm - an event where buildings and places that are normally closed to the public open their doors for special visits.\n\nSo, of course, we had to go underground \ud83d\udc40\n\nWe visited Reaktorhallen beneath KTH - the Royal Institute of Technology, where Sweden\u2019s first nuclear reactor, R1, once stood.\n\nR1 was a small research reactor built for scientific research and education, and it became the starting point for Sweden\u2019s nuclear research. It first went critical on 13 July 1954 and operated until 1970.\n\nAnd the most unexpected part?\n\nThe reactor hall is located more than 25 metres underground in the bedrock beneath KTH. Walking down the stairs and deeper into the mountain before suddenly arriving in this enormous concrete hall felt like stepping into another world. Especially with the atmosphere down there\u2026 \ud83d\udc40\ud83d\udda4\n\nThe reactor itself is no longer here, but the hall remains and it has a fascinating place in Swedish scientific and technological history.\n\nToday, Reaktorhallen is also used as a space for events, meetings and creative projects, but it is not regularly open to the public.\n\nOur visit was possible because of @ohsthlm \/ @kthnavetresearch but opportunities to visit Reaktorhallen are limited. a few pumpkins home with us \ud83c\udf83\ud83e\udd0e\n\nAnd if you\u2019re looking for some cosy Halloween-inspired photo spots, there are plenty of cute little corners and pumpkins around the farm that make lovely backdrops for autumn photos with the kids \ud83c\udf42\ud83c\udf83\ud83d\udcf8\n\n\u2763\ufe0f One thing that is new this year is that there is a small entrance fee to enter the area, and you need to book a time slot through the @thorslundgard website. There is also an additional fee for the Corn Maze, payable on site. beautiful Japanese teahouse tucked away beside the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm - and it was even more magical than we had imagined.\n\nI came expecting an open house where we could simply have a look around, perhaps enjoy some tea and a little treat with the children.\n\nInstead, we were invited into a small and incredibly beautiful tea ceremony \ud83e\udd79 We were first served a delicate Japanese sweet, made with white bean paste and yuzu, shaped like a tiny leaf to match the season \ud83c\udf41 Then the matcha was carefully prepared for each of us.\n\nBut it wasn\u2019t simply about drinking tea.\n\nThe whole experience was a ceremony - a moment of gratitude and respect between the tea maker, the person serving the tea and the guests. Everything was done slowly and mindfully, making the whole experience feel wonderfully peaceful.\n\nAnd then there is the teahouse itself. @zuikitei_tehuset was constructed in Japan and transported in pieces to Stockholm, where Japanese craftsmen assembled it in 1990. A small waiting pavilion and Japanese garden are also part of the setting. \ud83c\udf3f\n\nThe current teahouse is actually the second Japanese teahouse at the Ethnographic Museum. The first one was built in 1935 but sadly destroyed by fire in 1969.\n\nStanding there tonight, surrounded by wood, Japanese craftsmanship and the quiet garden, it was hard to believe we were still in Stockholm. As someone who has always loved Japan, this felt like discovering a tiny piece of it right here at home \ud83c\uddef\ud83c\uddf5\u2764\ufe0f\n\nAnd perhaps my favorite part?
