It\u2019s the kind of summer we grew up with – and now, the kind we want to give our children.<\/p>\n

Getting to Visings\u00f6 is part of the experience – and surprisingly easy.<\/p>\n

Drive to the small lakeside town of Gr\u00e4nna<\/span><\/span>, known for its traditional candy shops and charming streets. We recommend you to take a stroll and buy some candy canes and maybe take a fika or lunch here before you head down to the harbour. Fromthere, you take the car ferry across Lake V\u00e4ttern to the island.<\/p>\n

The ferry runs frequently, takes about 25 minutes, and you can either bring your car or explore the island by bike once you arrive.<\/p>\n

One of our favorite ways to explore is by bike. The island is mostly flat, making it perfect even with kids. There are several places near the ferry port where you can rent bikes, including options for child seats and trailers.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll find yourself stopping often – not because you have to, but because you want to. Sometimes the best moments come from simply biking without a plan. Small farm stands, quiet roads, flea markets and open landscapes make every turn feel like a discovery.<\/p>\n

One of the most unique experiences on the island is riding through the famous oak forests by horse and carriage. Take a ride on the southern part of Visings\u00f6 with the delightful Visings\u00f6t\u00e5get (Remmalaget). Departing from the horse and carriage Remmalag platform in Visings\u00f6 harbour, this journey is an exciting experience for both adults and children. It\u2019s calm, quiet and almost feels like stepping back in time.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udc10 Visit Bengtsg\u00e5rdens Minidjur<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Bengtsg\u00e5rdens Minidjur is a small, charming mini farm where kids can get up close with animals like goats, rabbits and other friendly farm animals. It\u2019s a relaxed and hands-on experience – simple, genuine, and perfect for little ones who love animals.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf33 The historic oak trees<\/h3>\n

Visings\u00f6 is known for its beautiful oak trees, many of which were planted in the 19th century by the Swedish navy. The plan was to use them for building warships – but by the time they were fully grown, they were no longer needed.<\/p>\n

Today, they create one of the island\u2019s most iconic landscapes. Walking or biking under these great trees are a majestic experience.<\/p>\n

A stop at the castle ruins is a must. The ruins of Visingsborg Castle sit picturesquely on the shores of Visings\u00f6, right beside the harbor. Once a grand residence, today it\u2019s a peaceful and slightly mysterious place where kids can explore and imagine what life used to be like.<\/p>\n

Another alternative is to visit N\u00e4s Castle Ruins. It’s was one of Sweden’s oldest medieval royal castles, located on the southern tip of Visings\u00f6. The ruins date from the first half of the 12th century and were an important royal residence back then.<\/p>\n

Visings\u00f6 offers several beautiful spots along Lake V\u00e4ttern where you can swim, relax and enjoy a picnic.

At the southern tip of Visings\u00f6 lies N\u00e4s. Here you will find both a pier into the water and a small sandy beach. At the pier, there are benches, a barbecue area, toilet, and a gazebo perfect for a picnic.<\/p>\n

On the north tip of Visings\u00f6 lies Sandudden, right next to the golf course and airfields. Here you can enjoy a long, lovely sandy beach facing south, which is very popular in the summer. There are benches to eat at and a dry toilet.<\/p>\n

On the western side of Visings\u00f6, you will find R\u00f6kinge brygga, a jetty perfect for cooling off during a bike ride! Here there is a nice jetty with a ladder into the water, benches, and a pleasant gazebo with a grill. If you go a bit south of the jettys you find a small sandy beach area to explore.<\/p>\n
